local flavor for your wedding favors

gone are the days of candied almond wedding favors (but if you’re a fan – go for it!) today’s bride is looking for something a bit more personal + unique. and there’s nothing more unique than artisan gifts from your local creators!

the way i see it, purchasing your favors + gifts from local artisans is a win/win. your guests receive something uniquely special to your area AND you’re supporting the local small businesses.

i’m lucky to live in an area full of artists and entrepreneurs so i’ll be highlighting a few in the examples following.

handmade soaps

so much more indulgent than the big-box store alternatives, handcrafted soaps would be a lovely gift for your bachelorette party or shower attendees! goatboy soaps, located in new milford, connecticut crafts their soaps in small batches using all natural ingredients and there are tons of scents to choose from!

here’s a tip: buy the logs and cut them yourself. you’ll save a bit of money and you can add your own custom wrapping for a personal touch!

wine from your local vineyard

you can usually find incredibly unique artisan wines at your local vineyard. having a custom label made to ask your bestie to accompany you down the aisle isn’t a new idea BUT doing so with a local wine makes it that much more meaningful.

i’m right smack-dab in the middle of our local wine trail and i can tell you from personal experience – haight brown vineyards in litchfield, connecticut is an excellent choice AND they even have small, cozy dining areas to rent to host a little get-together!

locally crafted chocolates

who doesn’t love chocolate? high-quality, gourmet chocolates – branded to coordinate with your wedding theme – are a great idea for wedding favors!

thorncrest farm, where each chocolate is connected to a very specific cow, (c’mon – dontcha just love that?!?! each chocolate has their own COW?!?!) prides themselves on offering the best of the best! located in goshen, connecticut, they have a fabulous selection of flavors – i’m particularly interested in the habanero dark chocolate – so there’s enough variety to suit every taste.

locally distilled beer or spirits

since a few of the favor ideas may be geared more toward the ladies, i’ll wrap up this post with something a bit more gender neutral……. and this would actually be a great idea for your man’s bachelor party….

how about a selection of artisan beers? or maybe some really great-tasting ready-to-drink cocktails in a can? litchfield distillery has got all that and more, including tours and tastings. perhaps the perfect location for bonding session between the groom and his groomsmen!

do you have any offerings unique to your area? drop me a comment – maybe i’ll check them out!

(and if you’re looking for some customized adornments for your favors, let me know – i’m happy to help!)
