the opportunity to combine my primary passions – weddings + branding – really lights me up! a premium, upscale yet warm and approachable brand makeover for local Justice of the Peace, Bryan Anderson was the goal. and we nailed it.
bryan has been uniting couples in love for almost a decade and recently decided to step-up his online presence. as a justice of the peace, his greatest satisfaction is being able to “legally wed a couple in keeping with their wishes for their wedding ceremony” and specializes in finding special, unique venues for the ceremony location.
his target audience spans all socioeconomic statuses, from every and any ethnic background to include military, same gender and non-binary couples. we needed his branding to reflect his professionalism, relatability + experience without insinuating any restrictions.
mapping out the foundation of the brand
our brand aesthetic: warm, professional, inclusive, unique, flexible
a warm, neutral color palette with a pop of refined richness…..
the finalized, approved brand
after several iterations + tweaks, here’s what we came up with…..
we chose a modern yet classic san serif font with subtle serif-like line weight variations and then customized it just a bit to add some personality. this was paired with a simple lightweight, open san serif – professional and approachable.
the cathedral element serves multiple purposes – a nod to the elegance of art deco style, cathedral weddings and a rainbow symbolizing inclusivity, one of bryan’s pillar business values.
and moving on to the submarks, the shape and line style pulls from our cathedral element while the leaves represent bryan’s affinity to outdoor celebrations and also (more importantly) the hope, growth + fertility of each couple’s next phase of their lives together ❤️
